Jewels For A Bride
Right before the New Year ended, New York Magazine Weddings asked Keyamour to take over their Instagram Story. It gave us a chance to introduce ourselves and create some wedding looks. It was a lot of fun, and was well viewed. Since it was over the holidays, we curated some of our collection and did the photography in our home in the Berkshires. Here are some of the images we used.
Something Borrowed...
Antique jewelry with its unique quality and often sentimental meaning are a wonderful way to add style to your wedding attire. Of course, if Grandma has a strand of pearls or a pair of earrings all the better. Since this is not always the case, something vintage I think is perfectly acceptable.
Something Blue...
Who wouldn't love this gorgeous robins egg blue enamel bangle with a crown on top of the initial "M"? It has just the right amount of sparkle, and bears a script inscription "From Mount Charles, February 3rd 1846." Something Blue and something Royal...
Something Old..
Antique wedding bands are often a wonderful way to express yourself. You can find beautifully engraved colored stone ones, or ones made with diamonds. Pictured here are French cut diamonds, and French cut onyx and ruby bands. The center band is a 1950s baguette wedding band made by Van Cleef & Arpels. The French cut ones were all made in the 1920s - the first stackable ring! Start with one, and then add on to create a story.
Something New...
How about a new way to wear an antique piece of jewelry? At Keyamour we love gorgeous and colorful antique flower pins. They add sophistication and color to a jacket or blouse. However, put them on a hair band, and you have instant hairpiece! Not quite a tiara, but every bit as special.
Wedding jewelry does not have to be traditional white and diamond. We love diamond and onyx and the contrast of the two creates interest. The Art Deco period featured this combo quite and bit, as shown here in this photo.
If you are planning your wedding and want to tailor your bridal look, consider antique jewelry. Please feel free to reach out to us if you would like further inspiration.
