Jewelry from the Georgian period refers generally to the time frame of 1714 to 1830. Jewelry from this period is collectible and rare, but fashionable and sought after. Stones, both semiprecious (like garnets, amethyst and topaz) and precious (diamonds and sapphires) were set in a closed back fashion, often with foil behind the stone to reflect light and color. Diamonds were mostly rose-cut and were cut by hand. Both silver and yellow gold were used to make precious pieces.
