Victorian Diamond Drop Earrings with Original Antique Coach Covers
Original and unique, this boxed set of antique cut diamond earrings is accompanied by their original gold ball coach covers. "Coach Covers" were used in the Victorian period by ladies who might emerge from their homes wearing diamond earrings. Diamonds before dark were considered unladylike, and perhaps unsafe. These gold snap covers surrounded the diamonds, and made gold hanging earrings for day use and riding in your coach. They are removed once safely indoors. This particular set is rare because of its original box, holding both earrings and covers together. The diamonds are white and clean, approximately H color and VS. They each weigh about 1.25 cts for 2.50 cts total. The coach covers are made in 14k yellow gold with twisted gold embellishment. This entire set is a piece of history!
