Rare Antique Swiss Enamel Long Gold Chain Necklace

This is a stunning example of a Swiss Enamel long chain. Likely made around 1830, this 18k chain features large and small scalloped links that are enamel with the most gorgeous colors. Light blue and pink and green is accented by black and gold. The links are repousse´ meaning it was hand worked to have dimension. The links are in remarkably good condition, and there is some wear to the enamel, but in no place is the enamel entirely chipped away. The necklace is 48 inches long and about 0.5 inches wide. Swiss enamel refers to an area and a time frame when enamel work depicted country scenes and the colors referred to the era and culture. It must be stored and cared for to maintain its condition.
