Frankly My Dear...
I DO give a damn... about what is in your jewelry box! I had so much fun reimagining Scarlett O'Hara and her diamond earbobs that it lead me to wonder what else she might have had in her jewelry case.
I set out to recreate the moment, and I came across this magnificent period jewelry box made by Tiffany & Co. Isn't it perfect? Even the initials have an "S" in it.
Opening it up was even better! The velvet was Scarlett Red!
Now Scarlett would definitely have approved of this box. Of course, she would have had to travel to Yankee country in New York to purchase it. Let's just imagine that someone gifted it to her.
What would she have had in it? Well, definitely diamond earrings. She mentions garnet jewelry, her grandmother's heavy gold chain and a sapphire ring. We know she melted a few wedding bands for the "cause."
Here are a few of my ideas.

More Victorian pieces, diamond earrings, and onyx mourning earrings
4/6
I included a few dramatic black onyx earrings and a suite of pearl and onyx mourning jewels. We all know Scarlett went through a few husbands before Rhett. And let's face it, the South was in constant mourning during the Civil War. I also included a few old Georgian to Victorian chains which she might have been given by her mother. Of course a major diamond ring was in the mix along with a few other earrings. I also expected that she would have Victorian bangles in her collection.
Gone With the Wind continues to be an enduring, poignant film and book. Through this journey of jewelry, I am reminded once again of how much I enjoyed Scarlett as a heroine. She was ambitious and driven perhaps to a fault, vain and selfish. However, she got things done and is a survivor. I created a jewelry box for a strong, fashionable woman who coveted and collected precious things.
What other heroines would have an amazing jewelry collection?
