A late Victorian coiling 18k gold snake bracelet, made in France. The bracelet wraps around the wrist 5 times, and is in a nice tight condition. It has spring and the gold is silky smooth. The snake's head is set with a blue sapphire weighing approximately 0.40 cts and 4 old cut diamonds weighing about 0.25 cts. Small rubies dot the eyes. The snake's tail has a French plaque with hallmarks, and Brevete meaning the mechanism is patented - likely referring to the gold link coil. The bracelet is absolutely beautiful on the wrist. When not on the wrist the diameter is 2 inches. It does stretch to go on any size wrist. The bracelet is in pristine condition. Snakes in Victorian times signified never-ending love, and was a popular gift for lovers.
