Vintage Victorian Pair of 14 Karat Gold Black Enamel Mourning Bangles

SOLD

A fine pair of American Victorian black enamel mourning bangles circa 1890. This 14k gold pair is oval and hinged, with a chain safety. One side of the bangle has gold tracery scroll work, and the other side has gold tracery floral and leaf design. A pair of bangles such as these would be worn by women who were in mourning, often on either hand with other black jewelry made of onyx or jet. Pairs of bangles are more difficult to find these days, and are more collectible. This pair is in really nice condition, with shiny near perfect enamel, and only one small dent to the inside of one of the bangles. The bangles are 3/4 inches wide, and the inside length is 2 1/4 inch long and 1 3/4 inch from the inside top to bottom.
